Nicknamed “Italian”, the owner of Luminositá Winery is the Brazilian Nick Salussolia, son of Italian immigrants who arrived in Brazil at the beginning of the last century, coming from Piedmont and Bologna. In addition to the desire to prosper in the new land, they also brought a passion for wine: while looking to grow in business, they cultivated and produced wine for domestic consumption – out of sheer passion. With a trajectory of hard battles after decades, the family managed to alleviate the homesickness by traveling annually to Italy.
Already in this century, businessman Nick was invited to promote the sale of large plots of land in Tuscany, between San Gimignano and Volterra. Surprised by what he saw when he arrived at the site, he convinced the owner not to sell the land. Then, after they formed the society on the lands, he gradually acquired the entirety of the property.
The lands had long been abandoned. There was a complete winery and three rural houses, whose constructions date back approximately four hundred years: the real scenario to revive that passion of the boy who was born in a family of Italian immigrants who loved wine. Right at the entrance, the scenery has already proved to be apotheotic: it features centuries-old cypresses that stretch across the central boulevard – of truly exuberant beauty.
The work to rebuild the vineyard was enormous and the total acquisition took years. But with this part of the objective achieved, the work was then directed to the renovation of the three rural houses that, today, have become true charming and comfortable rural tourism residences, hosting people with great warmth and tranquility.
Increasingly excited, he changed his lifestyle spending a few months of the year dedicating himself (including handily) to the vineyard. He participates in all the cultivation and manufacturing processes alongside the canteen, the agronomist and the winemaker.
His wife also participates in this whole work with the same commitment and with the same intensity. She is equally dedicated to harvesting, pruning and production. She is even responsible for the meticulous decoration of the three rural tourism houses which, incidentally, are the result of great taste, creativity and care.
Boutique-winery, always looking out for the final quality of the wine, Luminosità produces 18 to 20 thousand bottles a year, under extra attention and unparalleled care in the cultivation, vinification, quality and flavor of each wine produced.
Thus, each bottle of the internationally awarded AluSSinante and InSSieme wines carries a piece of its owner’s passionate story. And if talking about wine is talking about history, this is the story of our wines.
